About Me

My photo
Hello. I'm currently a high school student living in southern California. I'm not one to talk much about myself. I'll leave it to you to figure me out. Don't ask me though, I'm afraid even I don't know myself all that well yet.

    Reading Journal 2

For this journal, I will only talk about some excerpts of the 13 chapters I have read. (Summer Skirmishes to Junior Scandals).

    Broken Heart.
Here, Roberto goes dating. But his girlfriend has to break up with him because he's Mexican, and her parents don't like Mexicans. Load of crap right? I think so too. I mean, just because someone's a different race, doesn't mean you can't love someone. To quote someone, "I think that if we have interracial babies, racism will be no more." (-KevJumba, YouTube, slightly paraphrased)

    Turning A Page
Panchito goes to college. Really he visits a college with his class. I wonder if Panchito does go to college. Will his dad let him? What about Roberto and work? Coming from a family where both of my parents went to and graduated from college, I don't really share this feeling that Panchito. So in conclusion, I don't have much thoughts on this chapter.

    Los Santitos
Panchito joins a club and helps create a canned food drive for the poor. This kind of reminds me of my elementary school, where the whole school donated food. I think it's cool of him to care and help others even though he isn't exactly rich himself. Whenever I hear "club activities, I'm always reminded of the SOS Brigade. What's ironic though is that he does it to help the poor, but when Christmas comes, the Salvation Army gives them some of the food from the drive that Panchito help set up. Nevertheless, the whole family is happy.

    Junior Scandals
Panchito participates in a talent show kind of event at his school, and he decides to sing a Spanish song. I like this chapter because, it sort of reminded me of when I sang in front of my Humanities class. I haven't actually been in a telent show before, however, but I think singing in front of a group no matter the size, can give you major butterflies in your stomach.

That's it for now, hopefully I can write more next time.

I like how you related some of the chapters of things that happened in your life or reminded you of things.
